Proactive logic led these clients through the planning and remediation of these performance issues. There are many factors in the performance equation. In addition to our expertise in designing scalable systems, we offer advanced performance consulting services including finding and resolving memory leaks, tuning database systems, and tuning networks. Examples of system bottlenecks that were deep system issues that we've solved are:  

• A native memory leak in the Oracle 9i client. This memory leak manifested itself by causing a .NET web service's response time to eventually come to a crawl. Proactive Logic isolated the memory leak, worked with Oracle to reproduce the issue, and restored operational status of the production system. 
   
• A bug in the HPTru64 UNIX networking stack that caused 30 second delays in network packet retransmission.  The bug in the HPTru64 UNIX networking stack that caused intermittent 30 second delays in network packet retransmission. This bug manifested itself in a .NET web service causing method calls to take 30 seconds in response time, causing the overall average of their web service calls to go drastically down. Proactive Logic identified this issue with the UNIX network engineers at the client site and Hewlitt Packard.  
   
• Circular references in the customer’s code causing database connections to infinitely increase. A Proactive Logic client had a legacy VB 6.0 ASP web application in production which had a circular reference in code. This circular reference caused database connections to increase to the point where their SQL Server 2000 installation was non- responsive. Proactive Logic tracked down the issue and restored system performance required.

Security is a far reaching topic that spans many levels of the IT architecture.
